TWO SIDES OF A STRUGGLE
They have told me hip-hop was birthed out of the aspiration to have a voice for the inner city. The hope for elevation was its first breath, spawned by a generation who could no longer tolerate physical and mental imprisonment.
Today it seems our generation has fell victim, fell victim to our own creation. Our child has lost its intention for change and gained the thirst to be idolized through the glorification of our pain. As if our pain has become desirable.
They have told me it is a tool for awareness.
Well … we are aware.
Yet, we are aware without any results.
We have learned that Hip Hop as an essence of Urban Culture is able to reach beyond its immediate culture. Hip-Hop is a movement that represents struggle, thus it is easily identifiable by people across the world.
These people recognize and relate to struggle. These same individuals also recognize and relate to the innate response that comes from enduring through struggle; Dreams, Aspirations and Hope.
We are Urban Inspiration, a movement that represents hope.
